Jordan, Alison, and I had our first gallery show. It was phenomenal. We’ve come along way from meeting outside once a week on a gross picnic table and talking about doing great things in art together. we randomly finagled our way into doing this art show and had no idea what we were doing. we were, and still are, naive babies with grandiose ideas. we were scrambling to build a bed, which we finally made out of cardboard, trying to make art good enough for others to look at, trying to prove our worth to our peers, and not knowing if any of it would come together at the end. we didn’t get much sleep, and i’m pretty sure all i ate during the installation days were two pudding packs and copious amounts of dr pepper, but i wouldn’t change a thing. their talents matched my motivation and vice versa. we completed and complemented each other. together we achieved so much neither of us could have done on our own. what really proved that to me was seeing the huge support of our fellow art students. they came out in droves to the reception and so many of them wildly publicized the show for us. i can’t describe how much that meant to us, and i’m extremely honored and proud to be so close to my classmates. art has brought the 50 or so of us together. we’re a family. i couldn’t be happier with how things turned out for us. i know i have loads left to learn, and i’m excited to see what could happen next.

also the campus paper wrote an article about our show’s reception!

yay art!
